Rajasthan government has set up a state-level dedicated textile cell to promote textile industry and export in Rajasthan. The objective of this cell is to implement Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025 in a better way. Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS), additional benefits are being given by declaring textiles as a thrust area by the government.
Industry and Commerce Commissioner Neelabh Saxena said that the cell will make a multi-pronged effort to encourage textile units in the state and provide information about the latest technologies. “This includes visiting industrial areas to identify bottlenecks, interaction with industry experts, entrepreneurs and exporters, study of major textile centres in the country and abroad, participation in national and international textile exhibitions. It will also gather market intelligence, compile and analyse the overall data related to the textile sector,” he said.
Saxena said that the state is likely to host a two-day textile summit in October this year, where textile players from across the country and abroad would participate. He informed that the Government of India has set a target of taking textile and apparel exports to $100 billion by 2030. “In Rajasthan too, a target has been set to increase the export of this sector by 3-4 times and work has also started towards achieving this goal. Total exports from Rajasthan were over Rs 97,171 crore in 2024-25. The share of textiles and other related sectors was around Rs 13,500 crore, which is more than 13 per cent of total exports,” he informed.
Rajasthan tops the tally in wool production and ranks fifth in cotton production with a contribution of about 47 percent. At present, there are more than 1,800 textile and apparel units in the state. Rajasthan’s textile industry has a special identity all over the world for its traditional techniques, hand block printing and various Vastras.
The state has prepared textile export plans for 11 districts, which includes 7 champion districts – Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur and Kota. Apart from, the central government has also picked up four aspiration districts, which included SriGanganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Churu.
