Grasim Industries has appointed Sangeeta Tanwani as CEO (Designate) of its textiles business, marking a leadership transition at one of India’s largest textile operations as the Aditya Birla Group looks to sharpen its consumer and brand-led approach in the segment.
Tanwani will join as CEO (Designate) and Senior Management Personnel from August 1, 2026, before formally taking over as CEO of the textiles business on November 1, 2026. She will succeed Kapil Agrawal, who is moving to a new role within the Aditya Birla Group.
The appointment brings a seasoned consumer business leader into one of Grasim’s oldest and most strategically significant businesses. Tanwani has more than three decades of experience spanning retail, FMCG, financial services and pharmaceuticals, with leadership responsibilities across marketing, branding, strategy and business management.
Since joining the Aditya Birla Group in 2018, Tanwani has played a key role in transforming Pantaloons and was instrumental in building the group’s presence in the value-fashion segment. She also led the evolution of Style Up into OWND, a fashion brand aimed at Gen Z and young, trend-conscious consumers.
Grasim’s textiles business, which operates under the Linen Club and other fabric brands, has been expanding its focus on branded fabrics and value-added offerings amid heightened competition from both domestic and international apparel players.
Meanwhile, Agrawal will continue in his current role until October 31, 2026, before taking up his new assignment within the Aditya Birla Group. In his communication to the company, he described his tenure at Grasim as valuable and enriching and said he looked forward to continuing his journey within the group.
The leadership transition comes at a time when textile and fashion companies are placing greater emphasis on brand building, consumer engagement and omnichannel growth strategies to drive demand in an increasingly competitive market.
