In every dyehouse there are articles that ask more of the machine than the rest: fabrics that mark easily, qualities that will not hold an even shade, goods that can be produced only slowly. Fashion cycles continue to shorten and product diversity is increasing – and it is increasingly these demanding articles, rather than the standard qualities, that determine which Indian mills win export business. They must also be produced with less water, less energy and fewer chemicals than before.
For more than 165 years, Benninger has been supporting textile manufacturers worldwide in meeting these challenges. Drawing on Swiss engineering expertise and decades of process know-how, the company develops technologies for both continuous and discontinuous textile finishing that help mills improve quality, optimise production and reduce operating costs. With a long-standing presence in the Indian market, Benninger combines global engineering excellence with deep local market knowledge and application expertise. From everyday apparel to demanding technical textiles, its solutions deliver reliable, reproducible results while making more efficient use of valuable resources.
Benninger FabricMaster: rope-mark-free dyeing, from sportswear to heavy jersey
One area where these challenges become particularly evident is discontinuous dyeing. Textile processors are expected to handle an increasingly diverse range of fabrics while reducing cycle times, lowering water consumption and maintaining exceptional colour consistency. For many Indian mills supplying both domestic and international customers, the ability to switch quickly between fabric qualities without losing dyeing reliability has become a decisive competitive advantage. And the hardest test is never the standard quality – it is the article that shows every mark the machine leaves behind.
Benninger addresses these requirements with the FabricMaster jet dyeing machine. It produces woven and knitted fabrics rope-mark-free – including articles that are difficult or impossible to run on other machines: heat-set polyester sportswear, smooth viscose-elastane blends and heavy 20’s cotton jersey. Intelligent liquor circulation, efficient liquor penetration, high rope speeds and gentle fabric transport enable significantly shorter process times while reducing water and energy consumption, so flexibility does not come at the cost of productivity.
Benninger SynthMaster: compression-mark-free for the most sensitive articles
Developed on the same engineering principles, the Benninger SynthMaster extends these advantages to fabrics that will not tolerate compression at any point in the process. Nylon-elastane blends, high-value viscose-wool blends for underwear and non-heat-set polyester – knitted or woven – carry every compression through into the finished piece. The horizontal jet dyeing concept of the SynthMaster provides smooth, tension-free fabric movement while maintaining consistent process conditions throughout the machine, so the goods leave the machine compression-mark free.
Its innovative nozzle technology and optimised chamber design enable operation at low liquor ratios, helping reduce both water and energy consumption. The SynthMaster also offers an exceptionally compact footprint, allowing mills to make efficient use of valuable production space – particularly valuable in India, where maximising capacity within existing facilities is often just as important as investing in new equipment. Because it shares key components with the FabricMaster, customers also benefit from simplified maintenance, operational familiarity and high compatibility across both machine platforms.
Benninger CPB Knit: salt-free dyeing for knitted goods
The Benninger Cold-Pad-Batch (CPB) dyeing station offers salt-free dyeing for knitted goods with water consumption of less than one litre per kilogram. It provides tension-free, non-curling fabric transport, requires no biopolishing and achieves maximum dyestuff yield.
At the heart of the system is a padding mangle with two Küsters S-rolls. Their nip profiles are adapted to the fabric and process requirements, delivering 100% level dyeing results with no listing or tailing. The compact design includes a dyeing trough that swivels downwards and backwards, improving accessibility and operator safety.
Benninger in textile finishing: continuous and discontinuous
Benninger’s expertise is not limited to discontinuous dyeing. Across continuous and discontinuous finishing alike, the company integrates technologies that reduce the consumption of water, energy and chemicals while improving process stability: automated liquid dispensing, powder dissolving and distribution systems, wastewater heat recovery, and caustic soda recovery for mercerising ranges.
With more than 165 years of experience in textile machinery, Benninger remains committed to technologies that answer the real problems on the dyehouse floor. By combining Swiss engineering, process expertise and close collaboration with customers – supported by a strong presence in India –the company continues to help textile manufacturers transform fabrics into high-value products, efficiently, sustainably and with consistently outstanding quality.
