Chintan Bansal of Bansal Spinning Mills, Ludhiana, signed a textile-cooperation MoU with Russia’s Aurus Cashmere, with Sberbank also associated with the signing. The proposed collaboration covers Russian wool procurement, processing in India, spinning, fabric manufacturing, product development and access to Russian/Eurasian markets.
The partnership builds on earlier discussions involving Aurus Cashmere, the Government of Kalmykia, Russia’s Ministry of Industry & Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, the Russian Trade Representation in India, and India’s Ministry of Textiles, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh and MoS Pabitra Margherita.
For Ludhiana, the significance is clear: Russian raw material → Ludhiana manufacturing → global markets.
Commercial volumes, investment and timelines are yet to be disclosed – but the direction is significant. Ludhiana is no longer only exporting textiles. It is entering global manufacturing partnerships.
