Exports of knitwear from Pakistan were down by more than 16% in July, according to the latest figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. Total knitwear exports dropped from $434.64 mn to $364.54 in the first month of the current financial year.
Overall, total textile exports reached $1,311,000 mn an 11% decline compared to the same period last year. Despite the overall decline, some textile commodities showed positive figures including cotton yarn which was up by 35.9% to $97.03 mn.
There were, however, drops in cotton fabric, the exports of which declined by 22.5 % to $140.93 mn, bedwear by 14.6% to $216.91 mn, towels by 2.9% to $72.76 mn and ready-made garments, which slipped by 9.8% to $274.73 mn.
