Gildan Yarns is to expand the production capacity at its facility in Columbus, Georgia, to help meet the increasing demand for Gildan Activewear’s fashion basics business. Gildan Activewear Inc., the parent company to Gildan Yarns, produces and sells a range of branded apparel, innerwear, hosiery and socks across a growing portfolio of brands.
Chuck Ward, President of Gildan Yarns confirmed that the expansion could create up to 80 jobs. “Since 2013, we have invested more than $400 mn in seven yarn-spinning operations in the region and now employ in excess of 1,400 people, a testimony to the confidence we have in these communities and the strength of the people who have joined our teams,” he said.
Gildan has also recently pledged to create more than 700 jobs in North Carolina, including at least 290 in Mocksville, as part of expanding domestic yarn-spinning capacity for new and existing products for its Gildan Yarns division. It has also recently added production at its Salisbury facility.
