Leading flat knitting technologist SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. of Wakayama, Japan, together with its Argentinian representative TEMCO ARGENTINA S.A., will participate in the Simatex exhibition in Buenos Aires, Argentina next month.
SHIMA SEIKI will exhibit a wide range of products for industries besides fashion apparel that are not typically associated with knitting, including proposals in seam-free WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology as an alternative to labor-intensive manufacturing in the South American market. Three MACH2®VS machines, capable of knitting WHOLEGARMENT® knitwear using every other needle, will be shown in 12, 16 and 18 gauge. N.SVR®122, shown in 12 gauge, is the industry benchmark for shaped knitting, featuring such innovations as the R2CARRIAGE®, WideGauge® knitting, spring-type moveable sinkers, DSCS® Digital Stitch Control System, stitch presser, yarn gripper and cutter, and takedown comb. N.SSR®112 offers industry-leading technology in an economical yet reliable package made in Japan.
Demonstrations will be performed on SHIMA SEIKI’s SDS®-ONE APEX4 3D design system, which supports the creative side of fashion from planning and design to realistic textile simulation and 3D virtual sampling of products. Virtual samples are a digitized version of sample making that are accurate enough to be used effectively as prototypes, replacing physical sampling and consequently reducing time, cost and material that otherwise go to waste. When a design is approved for production, knitting data which is automatically generated can be easily transferred to the knit programming software for converting into machine data, digitally bridging the gap between design and production. SDS®-ONE APEX4 therefore helps to realize sustainability while digitally transforming the supply chain.
