Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said that the PM MITRA Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal is set to give impetus to India’s textile industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the textile park virtually from Hyderabad on May 10. Envisioned as a world-class integrated textile hub, the KMTP will boost manufacturing, employment, and exports.
Reddy said the total cost of the project is Rs.1,695.54 crore while the expected investment is more than Rs.6,000 crore and grounded investment is more than Rs.3,800 crore
Spread across 1,327 acres, the KMTP is one of India’s largest textile parks and has been selected under the PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Scheme as a Brownfield Mega Textile Park. It fulfils the Prime Minister’s 5F vision: Farm to Fibre; Fibre to Factory; Factory to Fashion; Fashion to Foreign.
Explaining the highlights of the textile park, the Union Minister said 62 per cent of the park area is already allotted to anchor investors while internal infrastructure, including roads, water supply, and street lighting were completed and 232/132/33 KV power substation and 220 KV transmission line nearing completion.
The construction of a 12 MLD water supply system in advanced stage while the phase-I of five MLD CETP with Zero Liquid Discharge is under trial run. The textile park is expected to generate more than 24,400 jobs upon full operationalisation and 2,000 jobs already created.
With its strategic location, plug-and-play facilities, and integrated ecosystem, the KMTP is set to become a major driver of textile manufacturing and employment in India. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Central government continues to strengthen the country’s industrial infrastructure and position India as a global textile powerhouse.
