Tirupur is a major knit wear hub contributing to 90% of total cotton knit wear exports from India. The textile industry provides employment to over six lakh people and contributed a major share in garment exports from India. India is a traditional producer of cotton in big volumes – the basic raw material that is so essential for the knitting industry of India and more particularly Tirupur – the knitting capital of India.
Currently India’s share in global textile trade is 7% and is growing at a fantastic speed thus offering textile equipment manufacturers from around the world a fabulous market for their products running into several billion dollars. It is an opportunity that textile machinery manufacturers from around the world will want to corner and help them to establish a place in India. Value addition and modernization is a high priority area for the India Textile industry, which means importing machinery worth USD 500 million annually to remain competitive in the international arena.
The exhibitions are the best way to demonstrate the technology. The 16th edition of Knit Tech, Aisa’s Largest Knitting Technology Trade fair, was held from June 03–06, 2022 at HiTech Tirupur Exhibition Centre, Ring Road, Thirumurugan Poondi, Tirupur, India. The fair was organised by Hi Tech International Trade Fair India (P) Ltd, who have been successfully conducting the show with their dynamic and very practical experience for more than two decades since 1993.
More than 10 leading trade bodies in Tamil Nadu’s apparel and textile industry were supporting the event. The show was inaugurated by Dr. A. Sakthivel, President, FIEO, in presence of other Association members. The welcome address was given by MA Rayappan, Chairman, Knit-Tech 2022.
This year, besides promoting latest technologies in knitting and apparel industry, the show focused on automation. The biennial event showcased various automation technologies not only in knitting, dyeing, finishing division but also in apparel making and value additions. There were more than 200 exhibitors from across the globe. There were many foreign companies exhibited their technologies apart from large number of Indian exhibitors participating in the show. This year the exhibition was organised in a gross space of 20,000sqmtr and according to organizers, 22,000 trade visitors have visited the four day expo. It has drawn businesses to the tune of hundreds of crores.
