Promoting energy efficiency for cleaner and cheaper textile and MSME sector has become a priority for nearly 450 textile dyeing and processing mills in and around Surat. The textile cluster shall be first to adopt such mass technological up-gradation in India with support from MSME Ministry. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the MSME Ministry and South Gujarat Textile Processors’ Association (SGTPA) was signed for providing world class technology support to implement energy efficient and eco-friendly technology within the textile processing industry in Surat. The project ‘promoting market transfer for energy efficiency in MSME’ is a joint initiative by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) and Office of the Development Commissioner MSME which is slated to implement in Surat cluster among SGTPA members.
