A meeting organized by the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), initiated by President K.M. Subramanian, was held to focus on enhancing domestic production and marketing of knitwear garments. The gathering included TEA Domestic Sub-Committee Chairman Prem Aggarwal, along with industry experts and domestic manufacturers.
The General Secretary of TEA N. Thirukkumaran, Joint Secretary Kumar Duraiswamy, Chairman, Man Made Fibre Sub-Committee Arun Ramasamy, Vice Chairman A. Sunilkumar, executive committee members of the association, special invitees, Founder of Dixcy brand Prem Shikka, Managing Director of Lux Industries, Rahul Todi, General Secretary, Domestic Knitwear Manufacturers Association, Ravichandran, M. Manikandan of Ohms Fusion Knitwear and many more domestic knitwear manufacturers also participated in the event.
In his welcome address, Kumar Duraiswamy remarked that the reported figure of Rs. 25,000 crore for Tirupur’s domestic knitwear production was underestimated and that the actual production value was significantly higher.
Thirukkumaran highlighted that India is the fastest-growing economy with a substantial increase in per capita income. He emphasized that this presents a prime opportunity for exporters to enter and expand their presence in the Indian market.
Prem Aggarwal discussed the complexities of the Indian apparel market, underscoring that a deep understanding of the market is crucial for success in the domestic industry.
Ravichandran, while speaking, requested the cooperation of TEA to help domestic manufacturers. A. Sunilkumar compared the growth of the Indian domestic market in the last 5 years and for the next 5 years with detailed data. He also claimed that domestic manufacturers have a bright future ahead.
