High-growth results for the 64th edition of Filo

Buyers appreciated the collections shown by exhibitors, characterised by high quality, innovative capabilities and ongoing research, created in compliance with environmental, social and economic sustainability regulations.

Filo64 registered a constant flow of visitors throughout the two days of the fair, with a high number of foreign buyers. As an international fair since its inception, Filo matched its growth process with increasing internationalisation. On the exhibitor side, it happens following the strict selection criteria established by the organisers. Meanwhile, on the buyer side, Filo’s strong collaboration with the ITA-Italian Trade Agency and Piedmont Region-Ceipiemonte contributes to increase the number of foreign visitors from edition to edition.

More specifically, for the 64th edition, the collaboration with ITA made it possible to host a delegation of buyers made up of 40 professionals and journalists coming from Spain, France, Portugal, Hungary, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland, India, South Korea and China. It was also noteworthy the presence of operators belonging to Texfor, the Spanish Textile Industry Confederation, which represents around 400 companies belonging to this industry.

The presence at the fair of Alessandra Pastorelli from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Maurizio Forte, General Manager of Export Sectors at ITA; and Matteo Masini, Director of Consumer Goods Office at ITA was a renewed proof of the interest in Filo. Mr. Masini explained: “We have a long-standing partnership with Filo. Over the years, we have brought to Filo hundreds of operators from the most important countries working in textile and fashion industry. This partnership has been and continues to be very rewarding, especially now at the new Fiera Milano Rho venue, which allows Filo to be more integrated with other trade fairs in the sector. This is extremely positive because it fuels interest and curiosity among professionals in related sectors. For ITA, the trade fair, with the arrival of delegates, is the moment of greatest visibility, but behind it lies a long period of preparation that continues throughout the year. Our continuous monitoring of the main international markets is an activity that textile and fashion companies can rely on.”

The collaboration between Filo and Piedmont Region-Ceipiemonte has been confirmed and strengthened: thanks to the activities of the ‘Textile’ Integrated Supply Chain Project (PIF) of Piedmont Region, financed by the PR FESR 2021-2027 and implemented by Ceipiemonte – the Regional Agency for Internationalisation and Investment Attraction – a delegation of buyers from Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Portugal participated in the 64th edition of Filo.

Paolo Monfermoso, Head of, commented: “The 64th edition closes with positive results. Filo confirms its status as a leading trade fair, based on three keywords: high-quality products, professionality and effectiveness. This was the first edition held at the new Fiera Milano Rho venue: the choice was unanimously appreciated by exhibitors and visitors alike, because it offers the right space to exhibitors’ collections and Filo’s initiatives. We were able to introduce the new Accessories Area, with services for companies, we expanded the Trends and Quick Delivery Areas and re-designed the Sustainability Area in collaboration with C.L.A.S.S. to reflect the broader concept of responsible innovation. We also gave Made in Filo the space it deserves. This is the fabrics collection designed and produced by Filo based on product trends developed by Rossano Bisio and developed using yarns from exhibitors: it is a unique initiative in the international trade fair scene, a real textile collection produced by Filo. Together with the extremely high quality of the collections exhibited here, all this ensured that the two days of the fair took place in a good atmosphere, which encouraged meetings and business. This was also confirmed by the opinions gathered from the exhibitors, who expressed their satisfaction and appreciation about the work done.

Mr. Monfermoso added: “The opening ceremony of the 64th edition of Filo focused on crucial challenges for textile industry: innovation, sustainability and legality. Both Luca Sburlati, President of Confindustria Moda, and Paolo Barberis Canonico, President of Unione Industriale Biellese, invited us to consider these challenges as an opportunity to be seized, a competitive advantage over competitors, and not a burden or a cost. It is a proactive and concrete attitude that belongs to Filo and the companies that participate in it. Indeed, this is exactly the reason why we have conceived “Made in Filo”, the collection of fabrics created by Filo from the yarns of exhibitors and using the best manufacturing techniques: to showcase the great creative and technical potential of textile manufacturing. This project has been highly appreciated by operators, but also by the students who visited our fair. In fact, “Made in Filo” gives young people the opportunity to understand the technical aspects of textile manufacturing, what lies behind and underpins the beauty and creativity of a fabric. In short, Filo64 confirms that teamwork and collaboration along the supply chain yield results. Talking about synergies, I would like to emphasise that the 64th Filo edition took place simultaneously with two other important trade fairs: Lineapelle and Simac Tanning Tech. Strengthening the collaboration among Italian trade fairs in textile and fashion industry means contributing to the consolidation of the whole supply chain, giving both visitors and exhibitors greater opportunities to interact between the different links in the production chain.”
