Ace Indian Designer Archana Kochhar unveiled her new London Fashion Week 2019 collection “Banjara 2.0” for the first time in India at the Grand opening of Bombay Times Fashion Week, 2019, in association with Ample Missiion Foundation. Celebrating the first year anniversary of the iconic change of Article 377, she had Laxmi Narayan Tripathi as her showopener and Navya Singh as her showstopper along with transgenders turn model for her and 300 members of LGBT community join her on stage.
“This show is very close to my heart because for the very first time we are doing a gender inclusive show with 50 percent models from fashion week and 50 percent transgenders turn model. I truly believe that we can be a stronger society only if we are gender inclusive. The same thought is reflected in the collection I showcased as well. Banjara 2.0 has a beautiful rainbow of colours used in the embroidery which is an interpretation of rainbow and colours of Pride. I am hoping this showcase of ours will help in creating awareness and more people supporting this beautiful cause of gender inclusiveness,” shared Designer Archana Kochhar
Collection Details: BANJARA 2.0: Designer Archana Kochhar’s collection “Banjara 2.0” is inspired by the nomadic tribe of India called Banjara. Their main craft and skills includes producing vibrant mesmerizing colors of embroidery with rustic mirror work from India. This age-old art dominates the new collection of Archana Kochhar, adapted in modern silhouettes. Set in black offset, multi-colour thread work and mirror embroidery, showcasing a rainbow of colours, livens up the entire line.
Showcasing a fusion of traditional and contemporary silhouettes, east meets the west in Designer Archana Kochhar’s new collection Banjara 2.0 with Palazzo pants and shrug, dhoti pant with Sari, Gowns with colourful shrugs, Pants with zipped halters, Skirts with crop tops amongst others. Highlight of the collection was that the elements of embroidery was crafted by rural Indian girls and women who were personally trained and mentored by Designer Archana Kochhar as her endeavour to empower rural woman.
