The two-hour discussion will be led by cotton expert Simon Ferrigno, a well-known specialist in sustainable and organic production systems. Ferrigno is currently putting the finishing touches to the second edition of our 136-page independent guidebook, the Inside Guide to Cotton & Sustainability, which provides in-depth, expert analysis and guidance on how to tackle the issue of sustainability in global cotton supply chains.

Also on the panel are Rainer Hengstmann of the German consultancy firm Go4More Global; Kjersti Kviseth of the Jar design agency in Norway; Rolf Heimann of the Hessnatur Foundation; Mary Ankeny from Cotton Incorporated; and Ernst Grimmelt of Velener Textil.
The discussion will examine the ecological benefits of circularity in cotton, economic viability, and recycling issues such as chemical and mechanical processes and the biodegradability of fibres and textile products. The International Cotton Conference Bremen begins for trade visitors on, 25 March 2020. The opening keynote speeches will deal with the key challenges facing the industry.
Subsequent sessions will include lectures on industry-related questions along the supply chain. The topic of circular economy and the consideration of the lifecycle of cotton, viewed from different perspectives, runs through the programme. Up to 500 participants from all continents are expected to attend the 35th International Cotton Conference which forms the core of Bremen Cotton Week.
The transition to a circular economy will be one of the most widely-debated subjects at the upcoming International Cotton Conference in the German city of Bremen. An expert panel will discuss the ‘cradle to cradle’ cycle of cotton in a separate, dedicated session under the headline ‘Circular Economy – The Future’ on 26th March.
