Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project ‘PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel-PM MITRA) Park’ will be established in seven states of India. As a part of the same, an MoU has been signed between the State and Central Government at Surat for the construction of PM MITRA Park on 1141 acres at Vansi Borsi in Navsari, Gujarat. The MoU was signed at the Convention Hall of Veer Narmad University in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for Industries Piyush Goyal.
The park in Vansi Borsi will have an integrated textile value chain from spinning, weaving, processing/dyeing and printing to garment manufacturing under one roof. A world-class ‘plug and play’ infrastructure will be made available. A triple confluence of training, research and innovation will be created here. The park will boost exports by encouraging healthy competition in the textile sector.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi aims to make India a global textile hub.
With the mantra of ‘Sauno Sath, Sauno Vikas, Sauno Vishwas, Sauno Prayas’, the Central and State Governments have moved on the path of holistic development. Expressing his happiness, CM added that the Mega Integrated Apparel Park on 1141 acres at Vansi Borsi in Jalalpore Taluka of Navsari District will boost Gujarat’s textile industry and generate new employment opportunities across the state, including South Gujarat. He expressed confidence that with the fast pace of development, PM MITRA Park will reach a new milestone of ‘Atmanirbhar Gujarat for Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
The Chief Minister said that Gujarat has been an important centre of textile production and trade, and is known worldwide as the ‘Manchester of the East’, ‘Textile State of India’ and ‘Denim Capital of India’. Describing the achievements of Gujarat’s textile industry, he said that Gujarat occupies the second position in India’s total exports in the textile sector. Gujarat alone produces 60 to 70 percent of the country’s denim fabric, which ranks first in the country and third in the world. The state also produces 37 percent cotton, contributing 60 percent to exports from the country. Gujarat contributes 5 percent to the total man-made cotton fiber production of the country. Gujarat is the highest contributing state with a 30 percent share in woven fiber production in synthetic fibre production.
Several new industrial parks including Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar, Medical Device Park in Rajkot, Vehicle Scrappage Recycling Park in Bhavnagar, Ceramic Park in Morbi and Agro Food Park in Banaskantha will make Gujarat’s development story brighter in the future, the Chief Minister said while describing the development policy of the state.
The CM said that PM MITRA Park will realize the vision of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for the World’. Vansi Borsi of Navsari district has been chosen as the most suitable for the textile park on 1141 acres will open new avenues for the development of the state, including South Gujarat. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union Industries Minister for choosing Gujarat for the establishment of PM MITRA Park.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said, “ PM MITRA Park will be a unique industrial model, where Central and State Governments will work together to increase investment in the textile industry, promote innovation, create employment opportunities, make India a global hub for textile production and export. All the benefits provided under the Industry Promotion Policy will be made available in the Park.”
Appreciating the development of Gujarat, Goyal said that, Gujarat tops in areas like Logistics, National Start-Up Index, Good Governance, Ease of Doing Business, and Exports and has unprecedented development in infrastructure. PM MITRA Park will provide world-class ‘plug and play’ infrastructure in the Navsari District and boost the circular economy.
Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshanaben Jardosh said that the objective of the PM MITRA Park scheme is to realize the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of creating a self-reliant India and to give India a strong position on the global textile map.
The PM MITRA scheme will help fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and put India at the forefront of the global textile industry. PM MITRA Park will create an integrated textile value chain thereby reducing the logistics costs of the industry. The Government of India has approved the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textile products, namely MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics and Technical Textile Products to increase India’s manufacturing capacity and exports. 13 out of 86 investors in the scheme are from Surat alone, she added.
Balwantsinh Rajput, Minister of Industries, Gujarat said that Gujarat is accelerating on the path of development owing to the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. Gujarat got one of the 7 PM MITRA Parks to be built across the country, which is a matter of pride for all of us. Global investors are coming forward to invest in Gujarat. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Gujarat has played an important role in increasing the GDP of the country along with creating employment opportunities for the citizens.
Minister of State for Home Department of Gujarat Harsh Sanghvi said that Gujarat has 5 percent of the country’s population and 6 percent of its geographical area and contributes 8.4 percent to the country’s GDP. He further said that with the concept of PM MITRA Park, the Prime Minister has ensured a golden future not only for the existing business groups but also for future generations. A bridge connecting Ahwa to Ubhrat has also been approved. He expressed his firm determination to be at the forefront by making dedicated efforts for the fast-paced construction of the park at so that Vansi Borsi.
MP C. R. Patil said that the state government has developed a system of providing facilities to industrialists and businessmen even before they make representations. A clear example of this is the decision to increase the price of water by only three percent every year, giving great relief to the industrialists. Looking at the enthusiasm and demand of industrialists to invest in this park, 1141 acres of land will be less. Gujarat has been most favorable for business entrepreneurs. Gujarat has become the best state for them to invest in.
On this occasion, a brochure detailing the vision and mission of PM MITRA Park was unveiled by dignitaries including the Chief Minister and Union Industries Minister. A video film showcasing the information about the PM Mitra scheme was also shown.
Leading textile industrialists Punit Lalbhai (Arvind Mills) and Balakrishna Goenka (Welspun Group) expressed their happiness about PM MITRA Park and gave encouraging responses. A large number of industrialists present in this ceremony showed enthusiasm for investment.
Secretary of Union Ministry of Textiles Smt. Rachna Shah welcomed the dignitaries and gave a detailed outline of PM MITRA Park. Secretary of the State Industries Department, Shri S.J. Haider gave the vote of thanks.
