As a result of persistent problems and large losses in the textile industry, the Sircilla Textile Park Cloth Manufacturers Association has declared that it will be closing on 6th October. The decision was made during a general body meeting.
Seventy textile units in Sircilla’s Baddenapalli area are currently having difficulty paying for energy due to high expenses and a lack of marketing capabilities.
The president of the association, Annaldas Anil Kumar, voiced worry that the business is in a crisis due to growing electricity costs, which are currently at Rs. 8 per unit, as well as rising raw material prices and limited marketing facilities. In the textile park, garments valued at close to Rs. 80 crore are piled high.
A power subsidy of Rs. 15 crore was given from 2015 to 2020 during the BRS regime, which assisted in the industry’s stabilisation. However, the textile park has made the decision to close since it can no longer function without assistance.
“In Bhiwandi of Maharashtra, the government charges only Rs. 2 per unit for electricity, providing support to the industry,” stated association secretary Ankarapu Kiran. “Up to 1,000 individuals, many of them expert labourers from several states, are unemployed as a result of the Sircilla announcement. The industry workers are feeling apprehensive and concerned as a result of the announcement.”
