MVenkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation announced another list of 30 cities for development as smart cities including four cities from Tamil Nadu Tirupur, Tirunelveli, Thootukkudi and Tiruchirapalli. Raja M Shanmugham, President said he thanked M Venkaiah Naidu, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Urban Development and Housing &Urban Poverty Alleviation for inclusion of Tirupur and added that it is need of the hour for the happening city Vibrant Tirupur. He said the inclusion of Tirupur city under Smart City Mission will help for improvement of the infrastructure in Tirupur which is in dire need to this knitwear export hub as it targets to achieve Rs. 1 Lakh cr of Tirupur knitwear business by 2020. The developments of roads and construction of bridges are mainly required for ease of traffic and smooth movement of vehicles.
