Paris – Just over a year after the Naia cellulosic yarn launched, French circular knitter Sofileta has developed an exclusive range of extra-soft, fine knits, with a glamorous, glossy finish. A new addition to the cellulosic yarn range, Naia was researched and developed by US-based Eastman and attracted immediate interest when it launched in January 2017. Created from wood pulp, derived exclusively from certified and sustainably managed forests, Naia can be used to produce fluid and breathable fabrics which remain cool and comfortable under any circumstances. These practical fabrics are said to be wrinkle-resistant, easy-care (machine-washable) and release stains easily, so that even the toughest substances (wine, coffee, etc.) can be removed easily.
Naturally hypoallergenic (Oeko-Tex class I), they are suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive, making them the ideal choice for intimates and other garments worn next to the skin. For Spring/Summer 2019, Sofileta is offering two new ultra-soft, fine knits using Naia for a gorgeous, discretely pearlescent finish, which “caress the body’s curves with impressive fluidity”. This is a first for Sofileta, since the French manufacturer had never developed a collection using cellulosic yarns until now. Dominique Heuillard, Product Manager of Knitted Fabrics at Sofileta explains: “Naia’s specific features are of huge interest to our markets and round off our range of knits using natural materials”.
This new range consists of soft knits in two different versions: the first, an extremely fine gauge, creates a very light knit (105g/m²), ideal for the most upscale intimates. It features 90 per cent Naia yarn and 10 per cent elastane. The second, a fine-gauge knit, weighs in at 150g/m², making it the perfect partner for lingerie, as well as tops, T-shirts and flowing dresses. It contains 84 per cent Naia yarn and 16 per cent elastane. Both fabrics are described as having wonderfully fluid hand-feel, for a perfect drape and a pretty pearlescent, discretely glossy finish. “Veritable beauty products, they sit gently against the skin like a delicate powder, flattering the wearer with a subtle iridescent effect,” the company said, adding that these fabrics come in 16 colourways, from natural nudes to bright, vibrant shades as well as darker tones.
