Saurer’s highly efficient FusionTwister
Saurer Twisting Solutions focus is on the highly efficient FusionTwister for staple fibre yarns. The FusionTwister sets the benchmark for the cost-effective production of two-for-one twisted staple fibre yarns. In order to achieve this, the company has taken into account the three main factors affecting our customers’ profitability, namely energy, economics and ergonomics.
The machines’ reliably low energy consumption is an important characteristic for decision-makers to take into account. Achieved by means of an optimised spindle drive as well as a great variety of spindle and feeding sizes for all kinds of applications, it is the main element in the equation of production costs. Power consumption and costs are closely related, with energy efficiency positively influencing the return on investment, since it is daily challenge to process the maximum feeding weight while keeping electricity usage at a comfortable level. The machine’s short setup times, fast air threading and easy handling were key considerations with regard to optimising ergonomics.
With the computer-controlled servo drive system, customers have a high degree of flexibility to wind the yarn onto crosswound packages with a large variation in shapes and density. This vital factor enables them to be successful in a fast-changing market environment. Other features adding to the FusionTwister’s versatility are the software upgrade and newly designed computer panel. This results in better readability and more flexibility, while creating the base for the Saurer mill management system Senses.

WINGS FDY is now also newly available for the polyamide 6 process. With this development, the tried-and-tested WINGS technology — to date well-known for FDY yarns from polyester manufacturing — is now also available for the challenging polyamide 6 process. This new 24-end winding concept makes the efficient production of FDY PA6 yarns a reality.
Extending the polyamide yarn production from 12 to 24 ends with DIO and WINGS FDY pays yarn producers dividends, particularly in terms of investment expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX): Significant savings with regards to energy, footprint and — due to the more ergonomic design — a rather convenient string-up are among the WINGS FDY PA concept’s most convincing arguments. The enclosed draw unit ensures low spin finish emissions, offering a safe working environment. Offering swift string-up, the optimized yarn path of the tried-and tested WINGS FDY PET system is united with the high relaxing performance of conventional polyamide systems to create a completely new concept. The 24-end WINGS FDY PA hence profitably combines the benefits of both processes. The result: Outstanding yarn properties, excellent dyeability, optimum process performance and high full package rate. A perfect package builds guarantees excellent further processing properties in the downstream processes. With a 116-mm stroke, this winder makes high package weights possible, therefore delivering added-value yarns for further processing. As a consequence, yarn manufacturers can give themselves a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The BCF S8 production plant promises carpet yarn manufacturers greater punching power within a fiercely contended market. Superlative spinning speeds, up to 700 filaments per yarn end, finer titers down to 2.5 dpf — the performance data and technological finesse of the new system already made an impression at its unveiling at the German DOMOTEX trade fair in January. Besides, the company unveiled the monocolor and the tricolor version of the BCF S8 recently.
Polyester and its applications are omnipresent in our everyday lives. Whether as beverage bottles, film packaging, hightech sports shirts or safety belts, polyester excels with its excellent mechanical properties and inexpensive production. However, the constantly rising demand requires responsible handling of global resources. For this reason, it is not only ‘virgin polyester’ generated from crude oil that is exclusively the raw material for manufacturing, so too is polyester recycled from post-production and postconsumer waste. Processing production waste also helps cut raw material, disposal and transport costs, hence increasing efficiency. With the new VacuFil® recycling series, Oerlikon Barmag in cooperation with its subsidiary company BBEngineering is offering a solution catering to a “clean technology” production philosophy.
Decades of experience in the areas of extrusion, filtration and spinning systems have been bundled into a new, innovative core component — the vacuum filter. It unites gentle large scale filtration and controlled intrinsic-viscosity build-up for consistently outstanding melt quality. The vacuum unit – located adjacent to the filter — swiftly and reliably removes volatile contamination (spinning oil, etc.). The excellent degasification performance additionally relieves the energy-intensive pre-drying process. The modular structure of the VacuFil range offers numerous possibilities for the process guiding system. Whether as a standalone solution with downstream granulation or as an inline variant with 3DD additive feed — customer requirements can be optimally catered for with various system configurations.

As the ECONOMICA guarantees reproducibility and handling in the highest standard, a smooth and clear fabric surface can be expected after dyeing. The deflection-controlled rollers of ECONOMICA are working according to the principle of the swimming rollers, irrespective of the overall pressure of the padder- the deflection of the squeezing rollers is always consistent with the set values to ensure an even dyeing over the fabric width. On top of the deflection-controlled rollers, the large diameter guide rollers ensure a smooth knitted fabric transport with minimal tension incurred, which is beneficial to the dyeing process as a whole.
The double impregnation mechanism consists of a trough with a padder inside and with the minimum level of working liquor required. This mechanism provides sufficient impregnation and low-tension running condition for knitted fabric during the dyeing process. Furthermore, Thermplates keep the temperature of the dyebath as per the set value throughout the dyeing process – no matter its cool or hot.
With the precise dosing of dyestuff-alkali mixed, the application of precise and homogeneous pick-up and the linear nip of the deflection-controlled rollers, the GOLLER DYEPADDER ECONOMICA Nip-in-Trough with Double Impregnation Mechanism will always be the most ideal open-width dyeing range for knitted fabrics dyeing in small to medium batches used.
MONFORTS QUALITEX – Full Touch Panel Control System
It’s well-known that the astonishing success of China’s economy over the past decade has sent wages soaring and made it difficult for the country’s textile manufacturers to find and retain trained machine operators, while operating in a highly competitive market where optimised production and full resource efficiency are of paramount importance.
In direct response to this situation, A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG has introduced a range of new Industry 4.0 technologies aimed at simplifying machine operation while providing easy access to all data and instant or remote assistance. MONFORTS NEW CYD – Continuous Yarn Dyeing System
Monforts also provided full details of its new CYD continuous yarn dyeing system which is based on the Econtrol® technique – the most effective and established dyeing process for denim fabrics that is now being applied for yarn dyeing. *(* Econtrol is a registered trademark of Dystar Colours Distribution GmbH.) Econtrol® is a pad-dry process employed in Monforts continuous dyeing in which the reactive dyestuff is fixed to the cellulose fibres during drying. The fixing medium is a controlled by a steam/air mixture within the Monforts Thermex unit. With sulphur and reactive dyes in particular, the improvement in both quality and fixation is considerable, and with significant savings in energy and time due to the combined bleaching and padder fixation. The use of the Econtrol T-CA technique also allows the dyeing of cotton/polyester and other yarn blends.
Weaving preparation: The CYD system also integrates new functions and processes into the weaving preparation processes – spinning, direct beaming, warping and assembly beaming, followed by sizing and dyeing – in order to increase quality, flexibility, economic viability and productivity.
Further new concepts include the unique Eco Bleach process. This is the first bleaching system for yarn treatment available on the market and is combined with the washing units, after which the fabric is then dyed immediately, resulting in considerable savings in wastewater and chemicals.
It is possible to process short batches of yarn in order to produce minimum runs of finished fabrics in a single continuous process. By comparing the usual processing sequences within the denim industry with the new CYD system, the advantages become immediately clear
