Lorpen, the manufacturer of technical outdoor socks, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with the launch of a new Comfort Plus technology for its Spring-Summer 2024 collection.
The brand, which is renowned for its pioneering work in creating T3 technology (3 layers of different thread in a single sock), which was then improved by combining it with SLS (Selective Layer System) – a system of different layers in strategic areas based on the activity that is going to be done and the conditions it will be done in – is now using Comfort Plus technology in the T3 Light Hikers and crew length Running models.
Comfort Plus has been designed to provide pressure but without compressing too much, so that during outdoor activities the socks don’t leave a mark or irritate the athlete. In that way, Lorpen says it has achieved a technology that is much more flexible than other brands with the socks adapting to all sizes and shape of calves while guaranteeing pressure, but offering maximum comfort due to greater elasticity.
It is also making improvements with the goal of protecting the feet of athletes, especially in their highest performance lines. As an aside, the height of the T3 Running Padded Eco 3 M&W model has gone from short to crew, with Comfort Plus also implemented.
Aside from technology, Lorpen has redesigned the models in their SS 2024 collection. They’re using new textures and colour combinations with a preference for monochrome to give the socks a more technological look, playing with tones to show the structure of the socks and different layers of threads so you can tell right away which parts of the socks are reinforced and which parts are more ventilated.
In its previous FW 23-24 collection Lorpen announced the culmination of the process of transforming traditional materials for other more environmental ones in all their models, following a road map of sustainable innovation. The company also presented the first biodegradable sock, which won it an ISPO Award. In the SS 2024 collection, Lorpen is using Red-Cycled Nylon (very strong and comes 100 percent from recycled fishing nets), Coolmax EcoMade (made 100 percent from recycled PET bottles) and Tencel.
“It is sustainable innovation applied to a product that goes hand in hand with environmentally friendly production, because the factory in Etxalar where all their socks are made, has ISO 14001 environmental certification, electrical energy comes from renewable sources (solar panels), no chemicals are used in the final products and excessive water isn’t used in manufacturing processes and their location means 95% of the workers can come to work walking or by bicycle,” the company explained. “In addition, all the plastic bags used in the factory are made with recycled materials and all the boxes have 60 percent recycled materials. The brand has positioned itself in the top five worldwide of technical mountain socks, protecting the feet of athletes with a product that fits perfectly, is breathable, anti-blister and very strong, which makes it the perfect companion for outdoor activities.”
