All these technological developments have helped to create an inevitable shift in the knitting & printing industries. In a continuous endeavour to provide the industry meaningful content in accordance with the current trends, in the next few pages we have highlighted some of the latest technological developments in the industry.
Karl Mayer presents high-speed tricot machines
Karl Mayer, a leading German warp knitting machinery manufacturer, will join more than 2,400 national and international companies exhibiting at Febratex, the Brazilian textiles industry fair, which will take place from 21-24 August for the 16th time. The company will be showcasing its Warp Knitting Business Unit on the stand of its regional agent, MBR – Máquinas Têxteis Bernhard e Rampani. One of the first high-speed tricot machines, type HKS 3-M, with a working width of 130″ and featuring the Kamcos2 computer platform, will be on show.
The Warp Preparation Business Unit will also be exhibiting at Febratex 2018 on an info stand, highlighting products that can be manufactured on a variety of machines and equipment for producing warp beams. For Karl Mayer, Brazil is a market with a long tradition. Many small warp knitting companies are located there, as well as many larger ones that are becoming increasingly well established, thanks to their vertical production strategies and willingness to invest.
“We also want to appeal to smaller customers in order to increase the range of products on offer,” commented Nelson Da Cruz, a Regional Sales Manager at Karl Mayer. “As a result of national protectionist policies, most of the products manufactured in Brazilian warp knitting companies are sold on the domestic market. The market been experiencing a recession since 2015, but this now seems to have bottomed out. We are hoping for a recovery in the near future.” His expectations are supported by the number of orders placed for tricot machines over the last few months. He hopes to get an even better understanding of the market, so that he can offer his customers new business opportunities. “We must supply products for niche sectors and meet the specific requirements of this country,” he explained.
Karl Mayer is also targeting its exhibits at weft knitting companies at Febratex. In Blumenau, an HKS 3-M will be processing elastane to produce a stretch filet fabric for use in sportswear. This product and the performance of the machine are designed to offer producers of weft-knitted fabrics an attractive, alternative technology.

Aura launches T-Shirt and Sweater printers
Aura Designs Ltd is the latest trendsetter in the digital textile printing technology arena. The company formed by a group of technocrats with more than two decades of wide and varied experience across textile and apparel sectors, aims to change the dynamics of the market. It is striving to bring the best hardware and software technologies together and integrating the same in its product portfolio. This has helped the company to launch state-of the-art, cutting edge products aimed at delivering higher outputs at lower costs thereby providing higher optimisation levels.
Today, the biggest challenge faced by DTG printers is the white ink itself. The white ink always causes problems for print head clogging and consistency of prints. The digital printer was designed by the engineering company F.lli Robustelli and boasts the latest innovative and exclusive proprietary printing technology, Epson Precision Core which is considered the standard for high-quality digital printing in the industrial textile sector.
The new Monna Lisa EvoTre on-show had 16 heads, with eight colours and the ability to use acid, reactive, disperse and pigment inks. It is extremely versatile and can adapt to a continually evolving market such as textiles. Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 is available in three different print heights (180-220-320 cm) and meets the needs of a market which requires high print quality but not high productivity – instead, it focuses on products of excellence.
At FESPA 2018, Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 demonstrated pigment printing, an application which is strongly growing. This is due to its economic and environmentally friendly benefits, since it does not require steaming and washing as post-treatment phases.
Thanks to the optimised updating and maintenance protocols developed by F.lliRobustelli’s engineering team, the nonreplacement of the Monna Lisa structural parts results in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions compared to an alternative and more invasive revamping cycle. This reduction can be qualified as an indirect environmental benefit.

DTG-PTM Automatic Pre-Treatment
The DTG Digital-PTM is the answer to perfectly pre-treating every shirt, every time. Pre-treating shirts normally involves an HVLP hand sprayer and a learned technique. This means it’s a challenge to train new employees or ask help from others involved in your business. The new PTM by DTG Digital allows anyone to pre-treat a shirt. Just set the amount of pre-treat you need, put the shirt in and push a button. That’s it. Start pretreating faster, better and more accurate with the DTG-PTM.
Automatic Pre-treat Machine.
The design of the DTG-PTM pre-treated had you in mind. Built to handle the robust needs of a shop that is printing all day. All metal coated with ACF-50 anti-corrosion film for year on year dependability. A unique dual spray nozzle system delivers precision surface coating. A breeze to clean and maintain with an integrated semi-automated cleaning function. The PTM encapsulates the shirt entirely, so there is no misting of pretreat into the print room and sits on a table similar to the size most garment printers’ use.
Aeoon Technologies’ digital printing solutions
Aeoon Technologies GmbH, with its headquarters in Austria, produces direct to garment printers and pretreatment units for the needs of the industrial use. The newest addition to its product range is the Aeoon Kyo Hybrid Series – a screen printing station added on the back of our DTG printer.
New Hybrid Machine @ TV Tecstyle Visions
For the first time ever, it showed show its NEW digital, industrial hybrid printing machine “Aeoon Kyo Hybrid Series” at the trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany. The actual meaning of “Hybrid” comes from the combination of a screen- and a digital textile printing machine. Within this innovation, it made a great achievement by reducing the printing costs along with an incredibly accurate printing position (up to 0.001 mm). Furthermore it allows photorealistic printings on complex fabrics even without pretreatment.
Aeoon Technologies, a developer of digital textile printers from Austria, unveiled its Aeoon Kyo Hybrid Series of digital printer at the recently held TV TecStyle Visions, the global trade fair for stickers, textile printers, digital printers, flocking experts, textile makers, advertisers, and merchandising experts, from February 4 to 6, 2018, in Germany.
The Aeoon Kyo Hybrid Series provides digital textile production on an industrial scale. With the new direct to garment and screen printer, it is possible to stay ahead of the technological curve in the garment decoration market. Digital DTG printing was once used for low volume or novelty production, but thanks to this new technology, it can now become the industrial production method for garment decoration. High resolution printing beginning with a native 600 dpi resolution enables new design possibilities. The Aeoon Kyo Hybrid combines the direct to garment printing technology with the screen printing technique. The new series allows a maximum of flexibility. One can choose between digital printing, screen printing, or a combination of both.
