Industry Minister Amr Nassar and Immigration Minister Nabila Makram held an extensive meeting with a delegation of five Canadian companies to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 4th edition of Destination Africa 2019 textile and garment exhibition, which kicked off here earlier on.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Nassar, Public Business Sector Minister Hisham Tawfik and Minister for Immigration and Expatriates Affairs Makram, with the participation of 150 export companies alongside 230 international buyers from the US and the European Union.
The Canadian delegation reviewed great investment opportunities available in the Egyptian market in the textiles and ready-to-wear clothes fields and the possibility of establishing joint projects to meet the needs of the local market and export to regional and African markets. The representatives of the Canadian companies lauded great efforts exerted by the Egyptian Government to improve investment climate and create investment-attracting environment for foreigners.
On the other hand, Makram said that Egypt’s expats can play a role in promoting Egyptian products all over the world. Delegations of Egyptian businessmen, representing four companies operating abroad, are participating in the expo, Makram said, adding that the event is focusing on the Canadian market where good deals of Egyptian companies are doing business.
The delegation’s participation is a fruit of “Egypt Can by Investment and Development” forum, the 5th edition of which was held on October 15-16 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Makram noted.
The Immigration Minister underlined the need to support efforts of Egyptian investors and business owners abroad, which would expand product outreach, create job opportunities, curb illegal migration, and advance the State’s strategy on that score. Destination Africa is an annual international pan-African B2B sourcing event for the textile industries in Egypt.
Scheduled to wrap up on recently, the event is organised by the Textiles, Apparel, and Home Textiles Export Council in cooperation with the Egyptian Exporters Association (Expolink). Chairman of the Textiles, Apparel, and Home Textiles Export Council Magdy Tolba and Chairman of Expolink Khaled El Mikati were also in attendance along with a host of Arab and African diplomats and businessmen.
